Valtellina offers the possibility to choose every day new excursions, to enjoy new landscapes and new emotions.

It won't be difficult to see chamois, deers, marmots, eagles in the breathtaking landscapes offered by glaciers, waterfalls, rivers and alpine lakes.

Cycling

The endless bends of the Stelvio and Gavia Passes, the breath-taking slopes of the Mortirolo Pass and the undisputed charm of the Bernina Pass down to St. Moritz (CH) are the legendary roads of world bicycle racing.

Nowadays they continue to be climbed with pride, respect and fear by thousands of cyclists from every part of the world and by the Giro d’Italia caravan, which often chooses one of these wonderful climbs at the foot of Bormio.

The Unione Sportiva Bormiese organize for everybody want to climb the Stelvio, Gavia or Mortirolo pass to have a guide and a Team support car. This service will be done from the second half of june to the first half of september for 3 days a week: Thursday Bormio - Stelvio pass, Friday Bormio - Gavia pass and Saturday Mazzo di Valtellina - Mortirolo pass.

Mountain bike

Fans of bicycling who choose Bormio for their holiday have more than 400 km of tracks at their disposal. All mapped-out, well sign-posted and all entirely marked using GPS system. (www.bike-gps.com).

17 different routes within the countryside suitable for all levels. You cycle at the heart of the Stelvio National Park with high peaks and glaciers for company.

Summer skiing at the Stelvio Pass

A little less than half an hour away by car, protected by the great Ortler-Cevedale mountain range, behind the highest automobile pass of Europe, is the Stelvio glacier where downhill skiing, nordic skiing and snowboarding can be done as well as cross-country skiing.

Nordic-walking

Nordic Walking is a new and fabulous sport that is quickly spreading through mountain lovers. It is a walk that involves 90% of the muscles of our body and can be practiced with the help of sticks.

Nordic walking is a simple and effective way to better improve our physical condition and it is a fun and relaxing opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature.

Bernina Red Train

2010 is a magnificent anniversary for the “Ferrovia Retica”: the Bernina Red Train will celebrate fully 100 years of journeying.

100 years ago, the train made its maiden run along the 61 km between Tirano and St. Moritz, representing a splendid example of engineering, situated at the foot of some of the highest mountains in the “Grigioni”.

From that moment onwards the fascination that the railway generates has seen no limits.

Bormio golf

Situated within green swathes 1200 meters up, surrounded by the magnificent peaks of Upper Valtellina, Bormio Golf Club has all the features necessary to provide hours of relaxation and enjoyment for even the most demanding of golfers.

The 9 hole course is an absolute joy, technically varied, and which blends perfectly within the original landscape, sitting happily within Bormio’s magnificent mountainous setting.

Stelvio National Park

For far too many months snow has very much run the show, but the stark white blanket is at last disappearing under a warm sun and the spring colours being to imbue the Stelvio Park with new life.

White, blue, violet, yellow and red – spring flowers combining to create a phantasmagoria of hue and shade. Pasture and Alpine meadow, once dried yellow by late summer, re-appear in green splendour.

Woodland of larch stripped bare in the harsher season adopts its summer coat of succulent emerald leaves.
