During the day of the celebration of Christ’s resurrection, Bormio displays its ancient Easter traditions.

These represent customs linked to local folklore yet with a strong religious base and with roots sunk deep into the pastoral and rural culture.

Farmer, artisan and breeder involved themselves with the sacrifice of a lamb.  Nowadays the tradition takes the form of a parade of sedan chairs, decorated with tassels, through the town centre alongside locals dressed in traditional costumes.

It’s an Easter day celebration which allows the splendid little districts of Bormio to take centre-stage under the watchful eyes of both local and tourist, a genuine revival of a unique piece of local history.
