Remembering the past

Strolling through the territory that Upper Valtellina represents you quickly become aware of its ancient history; today there are still stately buildings much in evidence along with frescoes.

In villages dotted about mountain slopes in Upper Valtellina traditional ways of life and ancient crafts are much in evidence for the more curios visitors.

Tall field grasses were – and still are today – harvested by hand using a scythe. The locals take great pride in handing down this fine art – based on a very special technique: rhythm, strength and steadfastness.
